Pruna in a nutshell
Genesis
Bertrand pursues a PhD on reliable and efficient AI at TUM in DAML lab supervised by Stephan. Experimenting with diverse AI models, he is disturbed by the huge cost of using AI in research and industry. He therefore conducts research to automatically measure AI efficiency and to compress AI models to make them cheaper, smaller, faster, greener. Why not develop the concept in a start-up ?
Founding team
Stephan fully supports the idea of a start-up, which aims at making AI both accessible for people and sustainable for the planet. John who previously collaborated at DAML in efficient AI joins in turn to bring his technical expertise. Then, excited by his friend’s idea, Rayan accepts the invitation of the emerging team to join and bring his former startup expertise.
Initial support
The German state gives support to initiate the company, build the tech, validate product with customers and continue research on efficient and reliable AI. The initiative is then also supported by Nvidia. The company is presented in the international AI conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR) and fairs (Bits&Pretzels, VivaTech) and even invited to Elysée palace as top AI talents!
Incorporation
Pruna AI is officially incorporated in Munich. As in fruit production, AI model pruning is a best practice when you want to efficiently grow the best fruits!
First product
Pruna AI launches its product which automatically compresses any AI model. With this product, first customers save costs, speed up AI models, and enable new AI applications in production.
First public AI models
Pruna AI reaches 6000+ smashed models making it the #1 open model contributor on Hugging Face. These smashed models which are from x2 to x100 more efficient achieve 300K monthly downloads.
Seed
Pruna AI is supported by leading investors and raises a round to develop the team, company, and vision (announcement in September !)
